Hello Alyson & Laura! Thank you so much for taking the time to speak with me and share your beautiful creation with my readers!
What inspires you daily in the world? Are their certain crystals and or herbs that make your mind come alive with ideas?
Laura: I'm inspired so much by nature, and I think that's essentially what draws me to crystals, because they're natures little treasures. I'm pretty partial to a piece of Citrine or Rose Quartz. They're both such positive, uplifting crystals. I always have one or two on me!
Alyson: Very similar for me! The healing powers of nature and how it can work with all your senses and on a mind, body, spirit, soul level! There is so much support to be accessed all around so learning new ways to work with energies always inspires me. Labradorite was my first crystal and lately I’ve been working with shungite and apophyllite.
Tell us a little about the products you offer. How do they encourage wellness daily?
Laura: Hidden Hippie offers new, fun ways to keep crystals close. The hair ties and bra clips are cute ways to remind you throughout the day what you're trying to attract and promote in your life. It's kind of like meditation, where you use your breath to come back to the present. Carry crystals helps bring your focus back to love, health, whatever your crystal signifies.
Alyson: The Rockstar Shaman business involves me being a very public shaman and because of my background as a radio and television host it all merges together really well. I share energy and tips on my social media (Instagram: @rockstarshaman) and love doing global speaking engagements, events, retreats where I share top methods to activate your peace and higher intelligence, working with private clients and partnering with spectacular brands to spread the consciousness love and light! Hence this collaboration with Hidden Hippie!
What does your creative process look like? Can you paint us a little picture of a typical day in your studio?
Laura: Walking outside! Long walks across the Williamsburg Bridge, along the East River or in Prospect Park really get my mind wandering - usually I'm bursting with excitement by the time I'm home so I ALWAYS carrying a notepad to scribble and sketch.
Alyson: I am extremely visionary as well and feel so grateful for that gift! I am guided very intuitively and by Source (Universe) as to where to take my work next and how to work best with the energies of that place, time, and who will be in attendance. I get a lot of visions when I’m around water, during meditations and ask my guides questions when I journey. A typical day for me involves lots of palo santo wafting, wellness practices, shaking rattles and giving readings
If you could visit any five places in the world where would they be and who would you go with?
I'm pretty fortunate that I've traveled around the world a lot. I'm from a little town in Western Australia - AKA Middle of Nowhere - where everywhere is at least a 5 hour flight away! Given I'm living in NYC now I'd have to say my list is:
1. Bunbury, Western Australia. I'd be there with my family.
2. Portland, MA. Hiking and lobster rolls with my friends
3. Scotland. Hiking with my friends Jess and Elouise who live in London. Last year we hiked Cornwall together.
4. Anywhere in the Mediterranean, on a sailboat, with my friend Chris
5. Japan to see all their beautiful gardens and cherry blossoms with my Mum and Dad.
1. The Amazon! Immerse with various tribes with my production team in Peru and surrounding areas.
2. Morocco with my Goddess friends
3. Egypt with a love interest
4. Italy again but this time see a different area with my mom and sister
5. I am actually in the process of planning out The Rockstar Shaman Tour 2017! While I can’t reveal details yet, the locations selected will be very powerful, purposeful and mind-blowing! I can’t wait for these deeply moving experiences shared with anyone who feels compelled to come!
What makes you feel your most beautiful? And what is beauty to you?
Laura: When I'm happy! When I'm smiling and laughing, I feel the most like 'myself'. So I guess that's what beauty is to me - when someone is so comfortable and joyful in their own skin, and generous with sharing their happiness.
Alyson: I feel most beautiful when I take a moment to honor myself. First thing in the morning I look in the mirror, look deeply into my own eyes and say “thank you, I honor your, I see you.” Beauty to me is openness, honesty, courage, vulnerability. People who really truly go there and are willing to evolve and share their experiences with that.
Where do you source them gemstones used in your products?
Laura: I love supporting small, US based businesses and use a few to source our gemstones, rather than go directly overseas. Before committing, I always enquire about where and how the crystals are mined and polished, to make sure everything is ethical.
What are some of your dreams for the future of this partnership? Do you plan to bring more products and gift sets to the market?
Laura: I'm so, so honored and happy to be partnering with Alyson on this set. We're both so aligned on spreading peace and connection, and doing our part to support the Earth (a tree is planted with every purchase). I'd love to bring more sets to markets, and more crystal options. In early 2017 we're going to be releasing a new Chakra set which I'm super excited about!
Alyson: Likewise! Laura is so amazing and so authentic, we hit it off instantly! Who knows what Universe has in-store for us but I’d love to continue doing sets that support different causes and purposes.
I am a music person. I have to ask is there a song, an album, anything that you listen to while you create and or that inspires you while wearing one of your gemstone clips?
Laura: Wow big question. I actually have this habit of picking one song and playing it on repeat for hours, that way it puts me in the right mood without distracting me. Lately, God Knows (You Gotta Give to Get) by El Perro del Mar, has been on repeat. I fell in love with it when it was played in a closing scene on an episode of Girls - thanks Lena!
Alyson: I am also SUPER into music! Hence the name Rockstar Shaman! I incorporate music into each of my events and sessions and utilize it in my personal too – all to connect more within, lift vibes, move my body (another time when ideas and images strike!) I listen to Hilight Tribe, chants, shaman drum beats, I am loving this song called Baba by Iyeoka and Budapest Eskimos by Lushlife Project. But I also used to be a hip-hop morning show host so I still love that too, it’s just that the majority has shifted to the spiritual tribal thing.
