Turmeric. A magical spice. Filled with the color of the sun setting over the ocean. Or a desert sky, or the most radiant sunshine. It looks, feels and smells like LIFE. I could write you a list of the healing benefits, tell you how it has been proven to reduce the risk of different cancers and heal other inflammatory diseases but in all honestly I want to dive deeper. I want to share with you the magic of this spice. The decadence, the healing that comes just from simply using it daily in cooking, tonics, and even just with water, honey, ACV , and lemon. I will give you one tip, if you want Turmeric to work its anti inflammatory magic, you must mix it with bit of organic black pepper. Black pepper contains piperine which enhances the bioavailability of curcumin in Turmeric. I encourage you to get to know this radiant spice. It is beyond beautiful. It touches the soul. Its warming and welcoming. It yearns to be used and made into stunning creations. If you are using it as a healing modality, I urge you even more to look at it as more than a means to and end. As I tell all people who are on the journey of health, do not see it as a chore, but as something that enhances your life for the better. One of my favorite brands of pure organic Turmeric is from Anima Mundi Herbals.
Anima Mundi Apothecary is dedicated to preserving ancient botanical wisdom. They source directly from native people within Central and South America. Providing a sustainable system that goes beyond Fair Trade. Dedicated to permacultural outreach, developing small economies, and learning & sharing about ancient plant remedies that benefit people all over the globe. Their Turmeric is absolutely stunning. One of the highest qualities I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
Golden Milk. An absolute treasure of a tonic. You can mix it up any way you like but I will share my favorite combination of ingredients for a healing cuppa that will warm you from the inside out.
1 1/2 cups coconut milk
1 teaspoon Anima Mundi Herbals Turmeric Powder
1/4 teaspoon Cardamon
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon or let one whole cinnamon stick simmer in the coconut milk
1-2 tablespoons Coconut Nectar, Maple Syrup, or Raw Honey
1 Drop of Organic Stevia from Omica Organics
A dash of Black pepper
Bring Coconut Milk to a boil, reduce to simmer and add in Turmeric, Cardamon, cinnamon, black pepper, and sweetener of choice. Allow to simmer for 5 minutes mixing gently. Cover the pot and allow to sit for 5-10 minutes to truly infuse. Pour in your favorite cup and enjoy every sip.
*Feel free to use fresh turmeric, fresh or powdered ginger.
